How does the brain distinguish good from bad?
The Lemon Lab studies how the brain uses sensory information to allow recognition of things that are good for us, and situations that may be harmful or bad. Our experiments use taste (gustation) and the temperature sense (thermosensation) as model systems. Our work has implications for understanding the neural signaling of emotion, feeding preferences, and also the neural coding of pain-related events (nociception).
